Long on luxury for lazy weekends
Contemporary and stylish the Long Barn is spacious and bursting with rustic charm. This sense of space has been retained by keeping the ground floor living area to its full height with soaring vaulted ceilings and cosy bedrooms up in the eaves. As was traditional in these barns, the downstairs has a soft brick floor and upstairs is laid with recycled oak floor boards from a 180 year old Amish barn, both with underfloor heating. In the kitchen we have reclaimed corrugated iron from the dung heap and the antique butchers block from our old farm shop butchery.
This barn feels the biggest of them all, so it is no surprise that this is where they used to store the straw – which needed a big, open, well ventilated yet weather-proof barn. This was the threshing barn where the noisy threshing machine, powered by an equally noisy steam powered traction engine would knock out the grains from the ears of corn.

“A quick note to say thank you for a magical week at your farm. The Long Barn was beautifully designed, equipped with quality products throughout and spotlessly clean. You and your staff couldn’t have been more helpful. And being able to collect produce that I didn’t have to work to produce was the icing on the cake. Just wonderful - thank you.”
“What a wonderful place. Comfortable and homely. Clean and imaginatively done. And so wonderful for me to be able to pick all our own fresh salads each day and fresh eggs. The kids loved playing on the hay bales (and I did too!) and the pigs were hilarious - we fed them our left over hot cross buns and they were in heaven.”
